Matt Fidler is an audio producer working in podcasting and public radio. Coming from a background as a musician, Matt uses sound to tell stories and elicit emotion in his works. After receiving his BA in Music with an option in Recording Arts from California State University, Chico, Matt worked in the music, film, and TV industries before finding his calling in public radio right as the podcast revolution was starting. Matt has worked as an audio engineer, producer and host on numerous public radio shows including: Studio 360, Freakomomics Radio, The New Yorker Radio Hour, Selected Shorts, The Takeaway, Latino USA, On The Media, A World of Possibilities and more. In 2016, Matt started Very Bad Words - the critically acclaimed show about taboo language and swearing. His current passions involve the beautiful natural settings surrounding him in his new home town of Chico, CA where he is working on a new podcast and radio series about the importance of America’s wild spaces and national forests. Outside of public radio, Matt enjoys creating music, hanging out with his wife and small dog, hiking large mountains, and riding his bicycle for dozens of miles at a time.
